My cat has had an odd thing for chewing wires as of late, no, I'm not kidding! Anyway, he got to my braillenote adapter and chewed it. While the charger itself doesn't appear to be damaged, just a few small nitches in the rubber, and is seen by my braillenote, I don't want to take any chances with the charger possibly frying the unit on me. having said that, do I have to buy a new charger directly from humanware, or can I purchease a ginaric adapter, and if so, what kind should I get as far as the voltage, brand of adapter, etc?
From my understanding, it is a charger specificly build for braillenote only. That means, you need to get it directly from humanware. It is also depend on which bits that got chewed on. There are two bits of cable to the braillenote. The bits from the charger connection to the AC power, that can be replace anyware. The bits from the charger to the braillenote itself, that is the one that you might need to get it from Humanware. I think the cost for a new set of charger is around $50US... Good luck
The charger I have is the single adapter, with the round plug that goes in to the braillenote, and the plug that plugs in to the wall.
in this case, i'm afraid that you might need to change the charge then.
I'm almost certain that you can only get those chargers from Humanware. they're for a blind-person specific device, so that would be your best bet. anything else you wanna know, you'll need to call them, as we can't give you the answers here.
Sadly, you will have to get the charger from HW. WHile you may find something that is compativle at a local brick and morter store, I've heard of people having issues from using such chargers for prolonged periods of time. Sorry for the bad news, as HW screws us all.
